Zimmerman, population 1350, is in Sherburne County, Minnesota. It is 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis on U.S Highway 169, 6 miles south of Princeton and 8 miles north of Elk River. The city of Zimmerman surrounds the southern half of Lake Fremont, and extends to the west. Lake Fremont is a popular spot for fishing, especially for crappie, Northern pike, and sunfish. Just south of Zimmerman is the Fremont Wildlife Refuge Area.
