Nature Centers are areas which are set aside for the conservation and preservation of plants, water resources and/or wildlife. They generally provide educational opportunities for the public as well as passive recreational facilities.

Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens - Contains thousands of plants, including several champion trees, and features a pond, swamp, and stream. Earthplace - History, environmental activities, educational programs and general information. Located in Westport. Woodcock Nature Center - Comprised of wetlands and forest. Educational programs and an interpretive exhibition center. Botany walks, birding, geology lectures, wildlife management discussions and outdoor recreation programs. The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center - Dedicated to promoting environmental awareness through programs and activities. Seven miles of hiking trails, birds of prey in outdoor enclosures and trail-side museum containing natural history exhibits. Located in Mystic. Bushy Hill Nature Center - Classes in natural history and primitive studies. Located in the Ivoryton section of Essex. Ansonia Nature Center - Town owned and operated park offering nature trails, wet meadows, upland swamp, wooded hills and two-acre pond. Nature-oriented classes for school age children are provided as well as weekend programs for adults and families. Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust - 1300 acres of land in Woodbury, Middlebury, Southbury and Bethlehem which includes the Whittemore Sanctuary. Roaring Brook Nature Center - Information on facility located in Canton including programs, and classes. Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center - Features live animals, hands-on exhibits, a reading corner and gift shop. Located in Mill Woods Park in Wethersfield. Darien Nature Center | - Environmental Education Center with enrichment programs, exhibits, events, school visits and a library. Located at Cherry Lawn Park in Darien. Kellogg Environmental Center - State run facility in Derby offers workshops, exhibits, nature activities and lectures for the general public. Platt Nature Center - Formerly an old barn on nine acres of land in Killingworth, today the center offers a steward program, field trips, educational programs and a newsletter. Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area - Focuses on conservation education, with facilities in Burlington for school groups, the general public and natural resource professionals for educational programs, demonstrations, and workshops pertaining to wildlife and natural resource management. Trail map provided in PDF format. Shoreline Outdoor Education Center - Guilford facility provides schedule of events and information on programs. Trumbull Nature & Arts Center - Promotes sound environmental stewardship and enhances community life through participation in collaborative nature, environment and art experiences. West Rock Nature Center - Run by the City of New Haven and offering hiking trails, birding and other passive recreational opportunities. Woodcock Nature Center - Located on state-owned land that straddles Wilton and Ridgefield, site is primarily wetlands but offers an upland area with nature trails. Brochure provided in PDF format.
