This branch of theology deals with the content and application of the liturgy and other service orders used in the Lutheran Church. The liturgy is the form and structure of Western Christian worship. In Lutheranism, it is often called Gottesdienst, that is, God's Service or the Divine Service. This is because the Lutheran theology of worship is normed by the Doctrine Justification by Grace through Faith in Christ and sees worship first of all as God's action upon man and only secondarily man's response to God.
