Lake Anna, the largest lake in central Virginia, is now a focus for recreational activity in the Louisa, Spotsylvania, and Orange County areas. The 9600 acre lake was completed in 1972 as a cooling reservoir for the North Anna Nuclear Plant. The lake is nearly 17 miles long with over 200 miles of shoreline with public marinas and a 2000 acre State Park. The lake welcomes all types of boating; there are no horsepower limits. Fishing is superb and other popular water sports include water skiing, swimming, and sailing.
