Agencies are government bodies created by the State to oversee a specific function of government. Under the authority of the Governor, they often handle administrative areas which overlap the various departments, and so are independent of the cabinet departments.

Public Service Commission of South Carolina - Regulatory agency whose responsibilities include oversight of the telecommunications industry. Division of Motor Vehicles - Provides vehicle licensing, titling, and registration information as well as forms and contact information. Department of Natural Resources - Provides information about outdoor sporting, departmental news, and employment opportunities. Workers’ Compensation Commission - Find information related to claims, coverage, insurance, medical matters, or on judicial issues. Includes organizational chart, FAQ, and forms. South Carolina Statistical Abstract - Provides baseline demographic and geographic data for all state agencies. Department of Consumer Affairs - Dedicated to protect consumers from inequities in the marketplace through advocacy, mediation, enforcement and education. Includes FAQ, publications, staff directory, office hours, map and directions. Department of Agriculture - Read the mission statement, download forms, or find recipes and dates of plant and flower festivals. Department of Social Services - Provides public assistance to families, access to health care, services to the elderly, child support enforcement assistance and to provide specialized assistance to troubled youth.
