Delco is a small community in Northeast Columbus County. It was incorporated in 1913 as Germantown in hopes of attracting German settlers. In 1918 the name was changed during World War I to Pershing in honor of General John J. Pershing. After the war the name was changed to Delco, after a company who installed electric lights in the local high school.
