Chowan County, North Carolina, USA is located in the northeastern part of North Carolina. North Carolina is on the east coast of the United States of America approximately half-way between New York and Florida. Edenton, often called the South's prettiest town, was established in the late seventeenth century and was incorporated in 1722. Located on Edenton Bay at the head of the Albemarle Sound, the town was a prosperous port in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Chowan County is also home to the oldest courthouse in the United States.
