Morristown, New Jersey is one of the most historically important locations in the United States. The town played a prominent role in the Revolutionary War, housed more millionaires than any other city during the Gilded Age, and spawned the telegraph, the steamship engine and the modern day version of Santa Claus. Through the strong efforts of the Historic Commission, the Morristown Partnership, and the Community, many historic places have been preserved and opened to the public. Almost every street in town has some historical character and significance. Morristown is also the vibrant Morris County seat brimming with restaurants, shops, clubs, theaters, and antiques, all surrounding the historic 285 year old Village Green.
