Flanked by the Hudson River, Fort Lee, named after General Charles Lee, played a vital role in the Revolutionary War, when General George Washington fortified the area to prevent the British troops from splitting the Colonies in half. Today Fort Lee is probably best known as a gateway into the state from Manhattan, via the George Washington Bridge. The Borough's population is estimated at 32,000 residents.
