"The Borough of Beach Haven, one of the two planned resort communities on Long Beach Island (see Barnegat Light), was founded in 1874. Today, it is still the most well known and popular destination on the island. There are many restored Victorian homes, and several operate as Bed and Breakfasts. Shopping is a popular pastime as Beach Haven has many small shops and shopping centers. The Island's only amusement center is located in Beach Haven, and of course, there's the beautiful beach. Also, a fine marina is located on Little Egg Harbor Bay.

Beach Haven has a year round population of about 1475. This number swells into several thousands during the Summer."
