Sullivan County is located in the western part of the state. The county seat is Newport.
The population in 2000 was 40,458. The largest towns are Claremont, Newport, and Charlestown.
Sullivan is bordered by Grafton County to the north, Merrimack County to the east, Cheshire County to the south, and the State of Vermont to the west.
