Zip Code: 04282 Settled by Rev. John Strickland in 1784. Originally called Sylvester Canada, after Joseph Sylvester, who had acquired the land for service against Canada in 1690. Town incorporated in 1786, and renamed after Charles Turner. Became the 47th town in the state.
