State Motto: "Cross Roads of America" Indiana is located in the Great Lakes region of the Midwest and bordered by Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois. It 36420 square miles is primarily devoted to agriculture and industry, most notably corn, soybeans, hogs, cattle, dairy products and eggs. Steel, chemical, petroleum, and coal products are also major industries as well as the manufacturing of machinery, electrical, and transportation equipment.

Indiana received statehood in 1816 and has played an important role throughout history. The capital city is Indianapolis. Today among other achievements, Indiana boasts one of the richest deposits of quality limestone in the world. Indiana limestone has been used on the Pentagon, New York City's Empire State building and dozens of government buildings in Washington D.C. and other state capitols.
