East Haven [New Haven County] Connecticut was named in 1707, and incorporated from New Haven in 1785. Its original name was Iron Works Village. Area, 13.4 sq. miles. Population, est., 26,740. Voting districts, 5, with 2 subdistricts. Principal industry, wholesale distribution and warehousing, electronic components and equipment, architectural castings, high-tech welding equipment; research and development, printing, insurance and investments. East Haven is considered a part of the New Haven Metro Area.
