Parry Sound situated on the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, is the largest natural harbour on that body of water. The town was named by "Captain Henry Bayfield" after Sir William Edward Parry, the Arctic explorer. Bayfield surveyed the region around the 30,000 islands in the early 19th Century.
