A municipality established on January 1st, 1998. Though new and with a relatively short history, the community has a rich past based on the traditions and history of the villages of Belmont and Port Stanley, the hamlets of Dexter, New Sarum, Sparta and Union and the Township of Yarmouth. The municipality is located immediately to the north, east and south of The City of St. Thomas, Ontario, which it borders from those directions.
