Diabetes is a condition where not enough insulin is produced by the body, or where the body is resistant to insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas gland which regulates the use of sugar (glucose) within the body. If diabetes is left untreated, the sugar level in the blood and other tissues becomes too high and this leads to damage.
