The Labradoodle is a hybrid cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. In 1988 the Guide Dog Association of Australia set out to produce a non-shedding dog suitable for service training. The Labradoodle is a hybrid, not a recognized breed. Some breeders are working towards developing standards for the future recognition of the Labradoodle as a breed, although other breeders see breed recognition as something that would have more negative impacts than positive.
