Linux is an operating system developed by Linus Torvalds in the early 1990s. A central theme of this OS is that much of the software is available in source code form. This leads to a very "project" oriented approach to the design of some games for the platform as opposed to the commercial approach. Many games on Linux offer the ability for the user to design, test, or play with the source code of the actual software. This directory is a listing of those games. In almost all cases you can "just play" them as well.

OpenCity - Free 3d city simulator written from scratch using OpenGL and SDL. Cedega - Commercial re-implementation of the Windows API for Linux with a focus on gaming. Similar to (and a derivative of) WINE. XArchon - Play-alike of Archon which was created by FreeFall Associates and distributed by EA. comisat Games Collection - GPL licensed multiple game package featuring classic game remakes including Connect4 and Tetris. Gamma Patrol - Old-style vertical scrolling space-shooter. Fight your way through enemies using different weapons. NAEV - 2D space combat and trading game, inspired by Escape Velocity.
