National Bank of Egypt - The oldest commercial bank in Egypt. It was established on June 25, 1898. According to the July 2001 issue of The Banker magazine, it came the 249th among the top 1000 world banks in terms of total assets. Commercial International Bank (Egypt) S.A.E. - Established in 1975 as a joint venture between the National Bank of Egypt and the Chase Manhattan Bank under its original name "Chase National Bank of Egypt". Following Chase's decision to divest its equity stake in 1987, National Bank of Egypt increased its shareholding to 99.9%, and the Bank changed its name to Commercial International Bank (Egypt) S.A.E. Bank of Alexandria - Established in 1957 with a domestic network of 184 branches.
