Tunis sheep are one of the oldest breeds indigenous to the United States. They are born red or tan and fade to a creamy color, retaining the birth color on their faces and legs. This is a medium sized breed, and both rams and ewes are polled. They are known for disease resistance and tolerance to various climates. Tunis wool can have 24 to 30 microns, with a Bradford count of 56 to 58.
