A speed skater skates on a rink or oval of ice. All major events are skated on a 400 meter oval. The ice could be made naturally as well as artificial. Since 1985 there are made several indoor venues, which houses a artificial speed skating oval of 400 meters.

Featuring Hockey, Speed Skating, Figure Skating and daily Public Skating. Utah Olympic Oval - Speed skating oval in Kearns near Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Built for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Nagano Olympic Memorial Arena M-wave - Indoor speed skating oval in Nagano, Japan.
