The Sun Belt ranks among the nation's top conferences, ranking sixth in the 1999 NCAA Ratings Percentage Index, and as high as third in 1997. Louisiana-Lafayette advanced to the College World Series in 2000, finishing in a tie for third place in Omaha. New Orleans advanced to the 1984 NCAA College World Series, and South Alabama is annually among the nation's top teams. All told, current Sun Belt teams sport 54 NCAA Division I postseason appearances in baseball.
