London District covers the area bounded by the M25, with a few small exceptions. It was created in September 2006 from the old four London Districts, South East, South West, North East and North West. These stretched much further out than London, the London South East district, for example, reaching to Dover and Deal. Two new districts have been created north and south of the London District one called South East and the other Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire.
