Japanese Martyrs - The most famous of the Japanese martyrs are the 26 who were crucified in Nagasaki in 1597, but thousands of other Japanese died for the faith between 1560 and 1860. Article in the Catholic Encyclopedia outlines their heroism. The Martyrs of Japan - Hagiography in Alban Butler's Lives of the Saints covers not only the 26 martyrs of Nagasaki, but also those who suffered before and after them.
