Multilateral governance is the process of establishing and regulating norms among sovereign states. The institutions of multilateral government represent the backbone of international cooperation, providing fora where world leaders may discuss current issues, where international law may be developed, and/or where states may coordinate joint operations.

World Tourism Organization (WTO) - Global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how. World Customs Organization (WCO) - Develops standards and provides technical support for the harmonization of procedures governing the movement of people and commodities. Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) - Global organization dedicated to stability in and shared control of the petroleum markets. G24 - Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development - Concerts the position of developing countries on monetary and development finance issues. The Cairns Group - Trade group of 19 agricultural exporting countries, accounting for one-third of the world’s agricultural exports. Works for the reduction of tariffs, domestic subsidies and export subsidies. Energy Charter - Legally-binding multilateral instrument that strengthens the rule of law on energy issues. EUCLID - An intergovernmental organization for sustainable development. with a university charter, established by multilateral treaty in 2008.
