Ministry for the Environment - Reports on the state of the New Zealand environment and the way that environmental laws and policies work in practice. They then advise Government on action necessary to improve environmental management. Department of Conservation - DOC is the government agency responsible for conservation in New Zealand. Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment - Advice on the system of agencies established by the Government to manage the allocation, use, and protection of natural and physical resources. New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals - Manages, on behalf of the New Zealand Government, all oil, gas, minerals and coal resources it owns, known as the Crown Mineral Estate. It is part of the Ministry of Economic Development, an omnibus department dealing with a wide range of issues and industries. Callaghan Innovation - A government agency supporting hi-tech businesses in New Zealand. A mix of researchers, engineers, scientists, technologists, designers, entrepreneurs, advisors and administrators delivering self-help, on-demand services and tailored programmes. Environmental Protection Authority - Delivers robust, objective decisions on environmental matters, and ensures compliance with rules. Environment Court - Largely deals with appeals about the contents of regional and district plans and appeals arising out of applications for resource consents. The Environment Court sits in a number of courthouses in different parts of New Zealand.
