At the beginning of the 20th century the majority of adult males had the vote.
  • Representation of the People Act, 1918 extended the vote to women aged 30 and over.
  • Representation of the People Act, 1928 lowered the age to 21 for women, too.
  • Representation of the People Act, 1969 reduced the voting age from 21 to 18.
