River Don Navigation - This system was the result of early efforts to make the River Don navigable between Fishlake (now on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal) and Sheffield. The route featured long ascents on both sides of the Pennines with the long Woodhead Tunnel at its central summit close to the Woodhead pass.
