Strete is a coastal parish at the northern end of Start Bay, administered by South Hams District Council, south of Stoke Fleming and Blackawton.  Start Bay stretches along Slapton Sands through the South Hams District parishes of Slapton, Stokenham which includes the village of Torcross before Beesands and Start Point.
