National Center for Seeds and Seedlings (NCSS) - Promotes the production and distribution of quality seeds and seedlings. National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) - Includes headquarters, regional research institutes, and specialized research institutes for field crops, fruit trees, flowers, vegetables, livestock production, and animal health. National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences - Conducts basic life science research on insects, animals and plants in order to promote technological innovation in agricultural productivity. National Institute of Crop Science (NICS) - Researches agronomic and physiological improvements in the breeding of rice, wheat, barley, legumes, and industrial crops in order to create low input management and high quality crops. Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences - Conducts research in Japan and developing countries. Invites researchers from abroad and sends some from Japan.
