Department of Emergency Medicine - An academic department of Emergency Medicine which provides emergency medical care at several hospital emergency departments in Central Massachusetts as well as pre-hospital care through UMass EMS and UMass LifeFlight. UMass Medical School - Graduate School of Nursing - The School is fully committed to providing high-quality education to residents of the commonwealth and acknowledges its responsibility to enable qualified nurses to attain advanced levels of knowledge and practice in order to meet the health care needs of society. UMass Medical School - School of Medicine - The medical campus was founded to meet the health care needs of Massachusetts residents. New England Newborn Screening Program - A comprehensive public health screening program for newborns, providing service for five New England states. The program provides high quality, timely, low-cost laboratory screening, clinical follow-up and research to prevent or minimize the effects of disorders that can lead to death, mental retardation and life-compromising conditions in newborns. Program in Molecular Medicine - Brings together diverse approaches and techniques for investigating a number of focused questions in cell and molecular biology. Department of Cell Biology - Offers a program of study and research in molecularly oriented cell biology leading to a Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology or in the Biomedical Sciences. Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine - Consists of a caring team of specialized doctors, nurses, therapists, technicians, and secretaries who are dedicated to the improvement of health for respiratory and allergy patients. Department of Pathology - Committed to academic excellence in the three component areas that comprise its mission. One component is the practice of anatomic and clinical pathology diagnosis and consultation. Another component is the advancement of knowledge through basic and clinical research. Yet another component is the training of medical and graduate students, clinical and research fellows, and pathology residents. University of Massachusetts Medical School - The institution encompasses a medical school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a graduate school of nursing, and the University campus hospital of UMass Memorial Health Care which includes an advanced tertiary-care teaching hospital and clinics. Center for AIDS Research - Encompasses a group of nineteen investigators who are engaged in AIDS-related research activities. The object of UMass CFAR is to promote communication and interaction between AIDS-related research investigators at the institution, to assist the investigator in identifying AIDS-related research resources and facilities at the institution and to provide information on AIDS-related research seminars and training programs at the institution. Department of Psychiatry - The Department has a strong commitment to develop excellence in areas of clinical care, education and research on the etiology and treatment of mental disorders, and in behavioral sciences research, as well as to serve the mental health needs of the people of Massachusetts. Division of Cardiovascular Medicine - Has research programs in prevention and behavior, epidemiology, thrombosis, interventional technique, atherosclerosis, cardiac arrhythmias, gene therapy and nuclear cardiology. Division of Digestive Disease and Nutrition - Clinical research includes studies on therapies for viral hepatitis, malnutrition, obstructive pancreatic-biliary disease, and effects of aging on gastrointestinal function. Children's Medical Center - A service unique to Central Massachusetts, with more than 100 medical and surgical specialists skilled and devoted to the care of children. Department of Radiology - Provides a complete range of diagnostic procedures and interventional services. There are twenty radiologists on the staff with special expertise who are available for consults during the normal workday. The Department of Anesthesiology - Program consists of three years of clinical training in anesthesia after the Clinical Base year, and conforms to the requirements set forth by the American Board of Anesthesiology for the continuum of education. Division of Dermatology - Staffed by board certified dermatologists who specialize in treating skin cancer and other diseases of the skin, hair and nails. Our faculty includes experts in Mohs micrographic surgery, pediatric dermatology, photochemotherapy, and laser treatment for vascular birthmarks, tattoos, and traumatic scarring. The Center for Outcomes Research - The Center has been selected to provide data management and statistical support for the ALS Patient Care Database, the Hip and Knee Registry, the Glioma Outcomes Project and the Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events. Department of Physiology - All 28 faculty members are actively engaged in federally sponsored research representing some aspect of virtually all of the sub-disciplines of Physiology. Department of Surgery at UMass Medical School - Divisions, research, and fellowships. Program in Immunology and Microbiology - This group fosters microbiology and immunology research and training at UMW, and offers a Ph.D. Program in Immunology and Virology as part of a larger school-wide graduate program that encompasses a core curriculum and a specialization in one of several fields of biomedical research.
