University of Massachusetts Lowell - Offers a broad array of programs to its 13,000 full- and part-time, undergraduate and graduate students. With a special expertise in applied science and technology and a focus on regional economic and social development, the campus offers an outstanding and well-rounded education to its students, engages in substantial and wide-ranging research, and is deeply involved in the lifeblood of the community. Toxics Use Reduction Institute - TURI was created to promote reduction in the use of chemicals and the generation of toxic by-products in industry and commerce in the State of Massachusetts. Student Health Services - The staff consists of nurse practitioners, a part-time M.D., a health educator, a secretary, and an insurance coordinator. While walk-in service is provided for emergency first aid, students must have an appointment to see the nurse practitioner or M.D. for an illness or routine health care. The Center for Atmospheric Research - The Center was founded with the goal of conducting experimental and analytical research in the atmospheric and space sciences, to provide research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and to demonstrate how research and development tie to solving real world problems. Tsongas Center-Tsongas Industrial History Center - A collaborative project of the UMass Lowell Graduate School of Education and the National Park Service at Lowell National Historical Park. The Center encourages the teaching of industrial history in a hands-on way through on- and off-site educational programs for over 50,000 students annually. Center for Lowell History - Established in 1971 to assure the safekeeping, preservation and availability for study and research of materials in unique subject areas, particularly those related to the Greater Lowell Area, and UMass Lowell. Continuing Studies and Corporate Education - Provides information on degrees and programs offered. James B. Francis College of Engineering - In addition to the traditional four-year course of study, the College of Engineering also offers minors in business, a dual-degree BA/BS program, internships, and our unique Track II program, which provides a five-year phased introduction into the engineering curriculum. Centers for Learning and Academic Support Services - Established to improve the quality of the students academic experience at UMass Lowell, the Centers have received national attention for the innovative approach to academic support services and the unique partnership that the Centers have with the faculty. UMass Lowell Electronic Library - Links the Boston Library Consortium, FirstSearch, GateNet, Infotrak, and many other scholastic, industrial and commercial databases. Boston Writing Project - Since 1979, the BWP has conducted annual Summer Institutes and established professional development relationships with school systems across Eastern Massachusetts. The BWP is part of the Graduate College of Education at UMass Boston and is based on the National Writing Project model begun in Berkeley, California. Center for Advanced Materials - The Center is a multidisciplinary research and resource center, bringing together state-of-the-art instrumentation, facilities and expert personnel. Advanced Electronics Technology Center - The Center's mission is development of reliable manufacturing for giga-scale miniaturization technology, to be performed in linkage with supporting companies. Institute for Asian American Studies - The Institute brings together resources and expertise within both the university and the community to conduct research on Asian Americans; to expand Asian American studies in the curriculum; and to strengthen the community development capacity of Asian Americans. Center for Industrial Competitiveness - The CIC combines active involvement in industrial restructuring with in-depth research on the history, theory, and practice of industrial development. Radiation Laboratory - Mission: To support the existing degree programs in sciences, in engineering, and other fields and to foster interdisciplinary academic activity at the UMass Lowell campus and within the UMass system as a whole. School of Business - One of only 305 institutions worldwide to have both undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by the AACSB, the International Association for Management Education. This is the highest level of business school accreditation a U.S. institution can achieve. The Center for Women and Work - Dedicated to improving the conditions of work and enhancing economic opportunities for women through research, education, and social action. Lowell Center for Sustainable Production - Develops, studies, and promotes environmentally sound systems of production, healthy work environments, and economically viable work organizations.
