Menlo College first opened as a two-year junior college in 1927 with a total enrollment of twenty-seven students. Sports have always played an important part in the history of Menlo College and the first College interscholastic athletic teams entered competition in 1929. The biggest change in the history of Menlo College came in the fall of 1971 when it became coeducational. Another important change was in 1986 when Menlo College eliminated the two-year degree program and began offering only four-year programs. Students today have the opportunity to choose from three outstanding programs: Business Management, Liberal Arts and Mass Communication.
