NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination - Established to provide the NHS with information on the effectiveness of treatments and the delivery and organisation of health care. Provides systematic reviews on selected topics and a dissemination service. Institute of Railway Studies - A partnership between the National Railway Museum and the University of York formed in order to advance learning and knowledge of the history and heritage of railways, and other modes of transport, at all levels. Centre for Health Economics - Specialist health economics research unit established in 1983. Centre for Housing Policy - Established in 1990 with the aim of being a centre of excellence in policy relevant housing research. Has a research focus which explores the relationship between a wide range of housing issues and other aspects of social policy. Centre for Medieval Studies - Founded in 1968 in order to promote interdisciplinary research into the Middle Ages. Centre for Women's Studies - Base for feminist and gender-oriented teaching and research. The centre adopts a women-centred and interdisciplinary approach to the changing nature of both women's experiences and gender relations. Norwegian Study Centre - Functions as a permanent study centre for students from the four Norwegian universities, and from the college sector. Offers in-service courses for practising teachers of English at all levels. Social Policy Research Unit - Independent research unit concerned with the development of policies and the delivery of services to support people made vulnerable by poverty, ageing, disability or chronic illness. Centre for Experimental Economics - Information about the people in the department, discussion papers, and details of planned experiments. York Structural Biology Laboratory - Information on the people, projects and facilities that make up the laboratory. Centre for Management - Group dedicated to the task of assisting industry and the public sector in the development of their managers to the highest levels of achievement, in both practice and effectiveness. Borthwick Institute of Historical Research - A research institute specialising in the study of ecclesiastical history, in particular that of the Province of York. It acts as the diocesan record office for Yorkshire and is a recognised place of deposit for public records. Housing Studies Association - Provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among all those with interests in housing research and education.
