The Faculty of Science and Technology received its present name in 1993, when it was renamed from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. It consists of approximately 20 departments organized in six divisions: Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, Technology, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Sciences.

Institute of High Voltage Research - Research in water-drop initiated discharges in air, lightning physics, electromagnetic compatibility, and electrostatic discharge. Department of Cell and Molecular Biology - Research in microbiology, immunology, structural biology, molecular biology, and molecular cell biology. Uppsala Astronomical Observatory - Research in the planetary system, stellar atmospheres, the Milky Way galaxy, extragalactic astronomy, and observational astronomy. Department of Biochemistry - Research in structural biochemistry and membrane proteins, biomembrane chemistry, enzymatic studies of viral proteases and other enzymes, enzymatic degradation of cellulose, and protein engineering and redesign. Department of Bioorganic Chemistry - Research in solid phase synthesis of RNA, antisense DNA, triplex DNA, stereoelectronic forces, and several other areas. Botanical Garden - The oldest botanical garden in Sweden, with a park, tropical greenhouse, and orangery. Opening hours and guided tours. Institute of Chemistry - Research in analytical, inorganic, structural and organic chemistry.
