The Brat Pack was the name given to the collection of young (teenage/early twenties) actors in the mid-1980s who starred in ensemble movies that highlighted the often cynical, materialistic, and apathetic attitude of their generation--though also finding some love and hope. The definitive Brat Pack movie was St. Elmo's Fire. While the Brat Pack originally referred to the twenty-something actors of St. Elmo's Fire and the like, and the younger stars of the John Hughes films like the Breakfast Club soon became part of the Pack.
