Country music is traditional music. The performers in this category have made their mark by reinterpreting the tradition of ballads brought to America from the British Isles, and now popular in many countries. Country has borrowed the rhythmic drive of jazz, adding piano, bass, and drums, and using amplified and electric guitars.
