Ruggero Leoncavallo (1857-1919) is remembered as a verisimo opera composer and librettist. Often thought of as a Romantic Period "one hit wonder," most people only know him from I Pagliacci. Yet Leoncavallo wrote other operas and operettas, as well as orchestral works, a ballet, and various songs and choral pieces, including a requiem. He also was a pianist and a capable conductor.
