German-born composer Franz Ignaz Beck (1734-1809), possibly after fighting a duel, lived and worked for much of his adult life in Italy and France. His output included symphonies, operas, sacred music, revolutionary music, and keyboard sonatas. He was also known as a conductor and an organist.
