Jacob Arcadelt (c.1505-1568) was born in Holland, influenced by Josquin and the Belgian School, became a singer in the court of Florence, and spent considerable time in Rome, first as singing-master of the boys' choir at St. Peter's, then entering the Papal choir as a singer. He went with Cardinal Charles of Lorraine, Duke of Guise to Paris as his personal court musician and composer.
