Band Maroon 5 sprung out from 90s alternative band Kara's Flowers. After that group left Reprise Records in 1999 they changed their name. They released "Songs About Jane," their first album as Maroon 5 in 2002 on the indie Octone label. In 2003 the album was re-released on J Records and the single, "Harder To Breathe" caught on and became a hit. The follow-ups "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved" became even bigger hits.
