1979 movie concerns a reporter who discovers that a nuclear power plant is not as safe as it seems. The movie was based on several near disasters that had occurred. The film proved timely when within weeks of the movies premiere there was a near meltdown at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant. The title of the film refers to a children's saying about 'digging holes to China'. The phrase is used to refer to a nuclear meltdown that would put a hole into the earth that could go all the way to China.
