A graduate of Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Pieters began a career working in the Christian Lacroix atelier.

In July 2001, he became the first Royal Academy graduate to present a haute couture collection, which L'Officiel called the best of that season. In March 2002, he showed his first signature ready to wear to excellent reviews.
